GRTC Bus Service
The city of Richmond's GRTC bus provides passenger pick-up at Transportation Center in Tyler Haynes Commons. The combination of GRTC service and the UR Downtown Shuttle gives more departure and arrival times, and greater opportunity to explore Richmond and gain access to civic engagement locations.
GRTC's Route 16 is a 30-minute ride to 8th and Grace streets, with stops at Grove Avenue and Thompson Street in Carytown; Grove Avenue and Robinson Street in the Fan; Laurel and Franklin streets near Virginia Commonwealth University; and 8th and Grace streets near UR Downtown and the Capitol.
The University pays the bus fare for any full-time student, faculty and staff member to use the GRTC transit system. To obtain a UR bus pass, complete the online request form, or visit the parking services office in the Special Programs Building.
